Riverview's 27th Deal Shows Why Platforms Buy Density
The addition of a 35-year Westchester operator puts integration and retention at the center of the deal.

Riverview Landscapes has acquired B&B Landscaping & Gardening, a commercial and residential landscaping and snow-management company based in Cortlandt Manor, New York. The deal is Riverview's 27th acquisition since its founding in 2022 and adds another location to an existing Greater Westchester County branch.
The financial terms were not disclosed. The operating logic is easier to see: more customers, employees, equipment, and route capacity inside a market the buyer already serves.

Density can be worth more than distance
Landscape platforms do not create value simply by placing more dots on a map. A nearby acquisition can reduce drive time, improve crew coverage, increase snow-response capacity, and create better use of supervisors, mechanics, yards, and specialized equipment.
Buyers should measure route overlap before closing. Customer locations, service frequency, crew start points, disposal sites, material suppliers, and winter obligations reveal whether the combined company will actually become more efficient.
The first 100 days determine customer confidence
B&B has operated since 1989. Long-standing customers may care more about familiar crews, property knowledge, and reliable communication than the name on a new invoice.
An integration plan should identify which contacts stay the same, when billing or service systems change, how open enhancements are handled, and who owns every customer question. Commercial clients also need confirmation of insurance, purchase-order, and emergency procedures before the next service cycle.
Snow work makes integration more urgent
Landscape maintenance can absorb a gradual transition. Snow cannot. The combined operation needs site maps, trigger depths, equipment assignments, salt and material plans, subcontractor records, escalation contacts, and a tested communication process before the first event.
Sellers need to prepare the company, not just the financials
An established local operator becomes easier to integrate when customer records, renewal dates, crew assignments, equipment condition, pricing, and property notes are current. Management depth also matters. A platform is buying continuity as well as revenue.
Riverview says it now employs more than 800 people across five Northeast states. Its latest deal reinforces the landscape industry's regional consolidation trend, but the durable value will depend on whether branch density improves service without erasing the local relationships that made the acquired business attractive.
